They came from an estate sale and there is no history. The cup holder and the saucer were taken to a jeweler and were verified as sterling silver. Total weight of the sterling is 146 grams. The items date before 1930 and are likely from much earlier. The demitasse cup measures under two inches tall without the holder and about 1-3/4 inches in diameter. It is gold lined and has gold decoration on the outside.
It is an unusual shape with concave corners. The bottom is marked in red E. The handmade cup holder and the 5.3-inch saucer have no markings on them and their style is similar to 18th century Chinese filigree design. The cup, the cup holder and the saucer are all in excellent condition without any chips, scratches or breaks. There is light wear on the inside of the bottom rim of the cup where the cup sits in the holder (see last picture). The item "Vintage Chinese Handmade Sterling Silver Filigree Gold Cup & Saucer" is in sale since Thursday, July 6, 2017.
